Club Facilities<\/h2>\n

Byron Bay Golf Club is home to a picturesque 18-hole course with stunning ocean views, rolling hills, and a layout that offers something new at every turn. One nine plays east\/west with sweeping sea views, while the other features lighthouse vistas on a north\/south stretch. It\u2019s golf with a backdrop worth bragging about.<\/p>\n

Our facilities open daily from 10am, with our friendly team on hand to help you get the most out of your visit.<\/p>\n

After your round, head up to the clubhouse \u2014 perched perfectly above the 18th green \u2014 for a well-earned drink. We\u2019re fully licensed and offer Keno, TAB and gaming facilities, so there\u2019s always something happening, even after the last putt drops.<\/p>\n

Need to freshen up? We’ve got change rooms on-site, making it easy to go from course to clubhouse in no time. Then take a seat on the deck, sip one of our 14 beers or ciders on tap, enjoy a wine from our extensive list, or cool down with a classic Schweppes soft drink.<\/p>\n

Our Story<\/h2>\n

Byron Bay Golf Club as we know it today is the result of big dreams, hard work, and a whole lot of community spirit. What started out as a simple idea among a few passionate locals has grown into an 18-hole course that golfers travel far and wide to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Back in October 1957<\/h3>\n

A group of golf lovers in Byron Bay decided it was time the town had a course of its own. After scouting a few different spots, they found the perfect place\u2014a 193-acre dairy farm on Broken Head Road, complete with rolling hills, good grass, a working quarry, and even a farmhouse they thought could become a clubhouse.<\/p>\n

The First Working Bee<\/h3>\n

On 24 October 1957, they rolled up their sleeves for the first of many working bees. Old fences came down, barbed wire was hauled away, and with regular Victa mowers buzzing, the first fairways and greens began to take shape. Sunday family working bees quickly became the norm\u2014and a real community affair.<\/p>\n

From 7 to 9 Holes<\/h3>\n

With a lot of elbow grease and a few handy carpenters among the members, the old farmhouse was transformed. By April 1958, the course was ready for action, and 100 keen golfers turned up for a 27-hole opening day event. Meanwhile, the women\u2019s \u201cAssociates\u201d worked wonders with a tiny kitchen, putting on a spread that included morning tea, lunch, and afternoon treats.<\/p>\n

Growing to 18 Holes<\/h3>\n

Soon, eyes turned to expansion. Thanks to even more volunteer help and local backing, an extra 4 holes opened in 1980. Then, the final stretch\u2014holes 15 to 18\u2014was completed and officially opened on 6 March 1983 by NSW Golf Union President Lionel Barnett, creating the full 18-hole, Par 72 layout we enjoy today.<\/p>\n

Evolving with Time<\/h3>\n

Over the years, the course has been fine-tuned with new greens, re-grassed fairways, and hundreds of trees planted. In 1975, the clubhouse moved to its current site\u2014a welcome upgrade that gave members a fantastic place to unwind after a round.<\/p>\n

Since then, the club has only grown stronger. The Associates kept up their legendary fundraising and catering, new facilities were added, and the course continued to mature into the challenging, beautiful place it is now.<\/p>\n
